The design takes inspiration from the iconic 1980 film The Blues Brothers, a musical comedy directed by John Landis. The movie stars John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as "Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues, characters originally developed for the recurring musical sketch on Saturday Night Live.
The story follows Jake, a paroled convict, and his brother Elwood on their comedic and chaotic "mission from God" to save the Catholic orphanage where they were raised from financial ruin.
A standout feature of the film is the Bluesmobile, a 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan. This decommissioned Mount Prospect police car was purchased by Elwood at an auction after trading in his previous vehicle, a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special, for a microphone. AOP is a more time consuming method than screen printing or direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, so the prices are higher and the production times are longer, but the results are most definitely worth it.
